It's Thursday....What's on Your Fridge?

Come join the SJ Mom Bloggers for a Thursday Tour of What's on Your Fridge?
Let's take a gander at what's on my fridge.
As you can see peeking up at the top is a microwave & what is that?? My timer. Cheeks loves to play with it & I was using it so I had to put it up high!

What else is on there?
Dirt.
Naturally.

Let's take a close up, personal look.

We have my list. I will confess, my pad of paper is stolen. I had put it in my cart at Target, months ago, & forgot to put it on the belt. When I got outside, it was in my cart. Here is where my criminal self comes in, I was too lazy to just walk back in & admit my crime so I threw it in the bag & off we went.

Yes, I am a thief. I stole from the Dollar Spot at Target.

I am so sorry. Won't happen again.

I also have an invitation to my friend's daughter's birthday party this coming Saturday...note to self...buy gift. She will be 2. A pic of my friend, Megan, her adorable son who just turned one in December. And what looks to be a check is actual my current proof of insurance card. Anyone who is on Twitter knows I recently needed this document plus my registration. Well I didn't, Bobster did. Let's just say that the police officer only gave him a ticket for what he was pulled over for (rejected inspection sticker) & not lack of documents & rejected. The police officer also cut us a break because he told Bobster...I can impound your car as well. We got off lucky, albeit a few dollars less in some upcoming checks.

I have a random collection of magnets. The M is made by none other than Abby Key of the blog, It's All Good. Isn't it the best??? I love my bunny magnet...it says something about Revenge being good. Then you have my magnets that I picked up in Ireland & Italy & of course, my fav magnet of all...My Glinda the Goodwitch magnet. Love that one!

O yea, if you look in the corner you will see my Brita Pitcher Filter reminder to change the Filter. I haven't had the Brita Filter being used since Cheeks came off formula at 12 mos. He'll be 3 in August. Yes, yes, I am that lazy!

So tell me.....what's on your fridge????
Leave me a comment with a link to your post about your fridge if you can.

Thank you Aunt Chrissy!!!

This past Saturday Cheeks got a belated Christmas gift from his Great Aunt Chrissy. I don't mean great as in she is awesome (which she is), I mean great as in she is my Aunt & Cheeks is my son, thus she is his great Aunt.
Altho. after this gift, Aunt Chrissy in Cheek's eyes has graduated to Awesome Aunt Chrissy.
Feast your eyes on this puppy, er, catipillar, er, catispeller.

Ignore the pink binky in his mouth.
We are trying to break him of it.
Sigh.

Notice this thing is huge in lenght.
Why?
Well every leg has a letter of the alphabet on it. All 26 of them!
Making this 7 feet long.

As soon as Cheeks took this out of the gift, it was on like Donkey Kong!
He will not put it down & even attempts to ride it through out the house.

On Saturday, I ran to the grocery store and when I came home that is what I found.
Bobster said he wouldn't let it go.

As of right now, the cataspeller is in Cheeks crib with him.
I will move it to the changing table which is attached to the end of his crib & he will keep on eye on Cheeks through out the night.

Now my question for my faithful readers is this.
What shall we name him?
Leave me a comment with a suggestion.
Don't be shy...I am a comment whore!

On another note, um am I the only one who is currently watching "
RuPaul's Drag Race" VH1 is running it. I am totally loving it.

Where else can you find cute men that turn into absolutely stunning women??!!!
Altho. one or two of them have tushies that just won't quit.
And while I love drag queens, I hate knowing that a man can be prettier than me!
Oh does that sound shallow?
Not meant to be.
What I mean is they have outdoor plumbing & testosterone.
I have indoor plumbing & estrogen.
So how is a man end up being prettier than a woman?
Who cares!
I just love RuPaul!
You better work!

So remember, leave me a name for the catispeller & let me know if you are watching Rupaul.

Dear Friends,

We are exited to inform you that we will be visiting our sick and

station as a drop-off place for donated items for the care packages for
the patients. The details about the dates and times are listed below.

with a list of company names who donate. Please advise if you would like

The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow

& it did.
These pics were actually taken last weekend.
We had gotten a snow storm on Tuesday but the following Saturday it was like 55/60 degrees out. For all my Non US residents I have no idea how to convert that to celsius, I am the product of a 70's Public School Education. Please convert!

Being that we have been cooped up I thought let's take out the Cheekers for a little spin on his Scooter that Santa got him.
First we have to put on the helmet.
While I think he looked adorable, I don't think he agreed.
"Mommy, what is this? Snow? Mud? Water? I think it's lookin pretty good!"
"So good mommy, I will step in it!"
"Wait! I will jump in it, matter of fact I will jump in every single puddle I see!"

And he did!
Who else has a child that will find anyway humanly possible to find every ounce of mess making substance when they venture outdoors?
Anyone?
Bueller?
Bueller?
On another note, I want to know why people, particularly those on Extreme Homemaker, find it necessary to jump up and down, faint or act like they are fainting, fall to their knees & clutch their chest, or just scream non stop while jumping on poor Ty Pennington...not that I wouldn't want to jump on Ty but this is a familyblog so we won't go into details.
That is just my little peeve for tonight.
Is anyone else bothered by that on that show?
Am I just that much of a b*tch tonight?
Must be PMS.

When Mommy Reads @ Dinner

The creativity side of Cheekers comes out.

What is he smooshing between his hands?

Mashed Pototoes!!!!

Guess I was too absorbed in the new Family Circle that came today b/c when I looked up, all the while talking to him, that is what I found.
My 1st instinct was to get upset
BUT
apparently the happy pills are working b/c I thought to myself:
Nothing some water can't clean up
&
I grabbed the camera.
He was having a good time & actually ate some of his chicken so I thought "Why not!"
Then I just hoisted a chair into the kitchen up to the sink & stood him on it.
I hosed him down
Which Cheeks just thought was "da sh*t!"

What mess have you had to clean up this week?
Tell me!

Open Letter to the Public Works Department of Haddon Twp

Dear Public Works of Haddon Township

I would just like to thank you for the crass way I was talked to this morning when I called your office.
I dealt with the administrative assistant or whoever answers the phone.
I told her my plight.

What is my plight you ask?
Well on Sunday, in the beautiful 61 degree weather, I took my 10 yr & 2 yr old boys across the street to the playground. You know the one, the pink one that is next to the community pool.
It's cute.
It's a jungle gym with 2 slides & a tube & some other rough & tumbly things attached to it.
We had a great time.
The other family with their 2 yr old boy had a fun time.

What was not so fun was upon leaving with my children & dh I looked onto the ground & what did I see not 4 feet from 2 yr old's scooter but a used condom.
Yes.
A condom.
Used none the less.
Ew!

So I called today because being a resident with children I want to take part in the beautiful equipment you provide.
Imagine my surprise when the woman I spoke to acted as if I was bothering her & that it was a pain in the ass to get someone to come out & clean it up.
Obviously she doesn't want to enjoy the lovely playground equipment.

I do not think, that at 10 & 2 yrs old, I as a parent should have to explain what a condom is. Nor should I have to disinfect my 2 yr old's hands when he goes to grab the flat balloon on the ground.

So Public Works perhaps you could be up on things & when you have them cutting the grass perhaps they could pick up the disgusting trash laying on the ground.
Just a suggestion.

As for Miss Pissy Pants who answered the phone, perhaps you should call a dr he may be able to help you with that nasty condition of yours.

Signed

Quick Movie Review ~ He's Just Not That Into You

My sister invited me to go to the movies last night.
Since I usually just collect dust on my fat tush on a Friday night I jumped at the chance to go. Plus I would be able to watch a "chic" flick without the moaning of the male members of my home.

So we went to see "He's Just Not That Into You".

My review: 1 1/2 thumbs up.

Why?

Hmm, well there are a lot of characters at first but you do catch on quickly & they are easy to follow. The movies starts are a bit slow, almost painful.
It picks up but there is no real defining moment of this movie.
As my sister said "Predictable"
I did like the storyline of Gigi & the character that Justin Long plays.
His character is representing the author of the original book.

Scarlet Johannson's character was cute but I didn't agree with her choices & felt she was leading Kevin Connelly's character around.

Drew Barrymore's character, Mary, wasn't featured as much as I would have liked but I am a big DB fan.

Would I recommend this movie?
Sure, why not.
Definitely chic flick material but on track with why men & women do what they do in relationships.
If you can see it on a bargain matinee, even better.

So that's my exciting Friday night, what did you do?

Where have I been?

Anyone wondering?
I know all my faithful readers of, um, 2, no wait! Make that 43 b/c I have 43 followers.
Wooo...go me.

Anywho Sunday I took the day off from blogging & actually watched the Super Bowl with Bobster.
It was a really good game.
The cute thing was I put Cheeks to bed at half time & when he woke up the next morning the first words out of his mouth where:
"Football game?"
Me: "Who won the football game?"
C: "Yes"
Me: "The Steelers won"
C: "Yaaaaaaay Steelers!!!"
I thought it was cute & just wanted to share.
That's the obnoxious mom in me.

Let's see Monday had to be my most fav day b/c I got to leave work at 9 since I was nauseaus & having intestinal issues.
Well I made it to the highway (295 for you local readers)
Where I drove about 1/2 a mile & had to pull over.
Since my window doesn't go down on the driver's side, I had to open the door, still in my seatbelt & repeatedly puke out the door.
Ah, good times!
The best was that I wore my hair down & the speed of the cars & trucks passing by caused my hair to whip me in the face allowing it to get covered in vomit.
Ah, the memories I will have of that.

Then I just recovered Tuesday & Wednesday but yesterday when I went to leave work, I couldn't turn my key in the ignition soooooooooooooooo....
Who ya gonna call?
Bobster.
He & Chuckster show up & they couldn't get it to turn either so they fiddled with it & it appears to be my mechanical cylinder in the ignition.
So I have it at the Dodge dealership to get fixed.
Now the good thing is I purchased the extended warranty.
So I let my fingers do the walking today (remember that phrase!), called the wty place & asked what was covered.
Yea, electrical issues with the ignition is covered
BUT
mechanical, not so much.
So I will have to pimp out my body to pay the national debt that will be my car repair bill.
I am not even having them fix the window motor as I can't afford to sell any of my children (not that I haven't thought about it, one of them is a little too sassy these days!)

On another note, my giveaway has been postponed.
Have no fear tho.
If you took a guess as to what it is you have an extra entry.
It should be posted soon, I am just waiting for it to arrive.
If you want to place another guest see my 2 previous posts for some hints.
I will say one person guessed correctly so far!!!

Well Ugly Betty is on followed by:

wait for it,

Oh That's Right! He's Back!!!!

Behold....Chef Gordon Ramsey!

He's back.

Last night was the season premier of Hell's Kitchen.

Who watched?

You know my tushie was planted on the couch. Let me tell ya, the premier episode did not disappoint! Ramsey was at his finest...asking "Who cooked the diaper?" & spitting food everywhere. Love it!

Wanna know the sad part?

I fell asleep with 5 minutes to go & have no idea who went home.

Can you believe that crap!?!!!!???

Sigh.

I will find out who went home, if you know, leave me a comment & let me know.

On another note, keep your eyes peeled for another fantastic giveaway. I will be posting over the weekend or even maybe later today.

Hint: Rain, rain go away, groundhog wants to play.

That's all you get.

If you can guess correctly what I am going to be giving away, it will earn you one entry in the "mystery" giveaway.

A Review, A Discussion, Call it what you will..

I recently had the pleasure of participating in the Silicon Valley Moms Blog Book Club, I am part of their NJ Mom's blog (<~~~see link over there). The book we read was "Who by Fire" by Diana Spechler . This book had me at hello. The author starts the action in the prologue, adds twists and turns and ends with a finale. Just like a great action flick.

The novel centers around Bits, a young woman, who must travel to Israel to "rescue" her brother, Ash, from living the life of an Orthodox Jew. She is traveling there under the premise to bring him home to attend the funeral of their little sister who was kidnapped 13 yrs earlier. Both children feel the guilt of allowing that to happen. Their mother is an expert at giving "Jewish guilt."

Have I experienced "Jewish guilt?" No, I was raised by an Irish LDS mother, in a prodominantly Jewish town, who knew how to throw guilt with the best of them. Try that on for size!

Bits & Ash's mother wants her children home, where she can keep an eye on them & "keep them safe." I can definitely relate to that. As mom to 3 boys I want to keep them all safe 110% of the time. I want to know where they are and feel that only I can make sure they are taken care of to the nines. Sure, their dad is capable and he did a great job raising the older two til we got together in 2006 (as did their mother...she is a very good mom!!) I just feel that when they are with me, it's my responsibility to maintain their well being.

Bits & Ash's mother feels so strongly that she hires a man to help her get her son back from what she considers a cult. Would I do this? In a heartbeat. Do I support alternative religions? strict religions? Yes. Do I agree that religions are a cult? No. Being LDS I have often been referred to as being part of a cult. My reply to that is gather your information before you make such a remark. If I truely thought my child was a member of a cult, I would be on the first plane to find said child, do whatever I have to do to drag his tushie home! The same as the mother in the story. She is doing what she feels necessary and having some much needed "fun" along the way (to find out the fun, read the book!!).

"Who By Fire" is one book that will surprise the reader. Diana Spechler keeps the story going with ups, downs, twists, turns. She tells each family members story with great detail without making it boring. Having the mother as the protaganist allows for the tale to flow like a smooth river in the depths of Autumn. It also lets the reader in on a lifestyle/religion that many are not privy too while not preaching about it. Hard to do but Diana Spechler does it with ease.

So take my advice and read this book. Read it from a parent's perspective, read it from a child's perspective, read it from a siblings perspective, just read it! You will not be disappointed!!!

Woops out.

Rambles, Mutterings & Rants

Superboy up there slept til noon today.
Ah, must be nice.
I remember being 15, I wasn't allowed to sleep til noon.
That Nana, she was a tough one.

Not much has been going on here.
Been sick since Thursday.
Had a 102.8 fever & intestinal issues.
Then Friday I felt better, went to work & 30 mins into my work day I had to leave.
Felt achey & still had the intestinal issues.
Today I am still achey & fighting the intestinal issues.
Good freakin times!

Now I would like to address something.
Something that plagues millions of drivers in the world.
Mainly those on freeways, highways, interstates, whatever you would like to call them.
I want to know why when there is say a tow truck on the shoulder of the road, hitching up a disabled car, that everyone must go 15 miles an hour so they can gawk.
Don't get me wrong, I am a nosey Nellie just like the rest of you
BUT
at the end of the day I want to go home.
And seriously, I could care less about a car getting towed.
If you are that concerned, pull over & help out!
Let those of us who need to pick up the little ones from daycare, then go home & cook dinner, do laundry & bathe little ones get home!

Also, rain.
It's rain people.
It's not dense fog in blackout conditions.
It's rain.
Water.
Wet.
That's it.
It doesn't require you to go 25 mph under the speed limit.
Unlike yourselves I do not have the luxury of arriving to work at my leisure.
I have a time schedule to keep & if everyone just watches the road, the people around them & maintains the speed limit in these conditions we will all arrive safely at our destinations.

On another note, never spray paint in windy conditions.
Don't ask why I know this.
Just take my word for it.

Crash & Burn

See that pile up?
Yep.
Someone had a bit of a pile up last night & today.
Cheeks decided to pile up some vomit on my lower back.
Ah, refreshing.

I still think he feels blah.
He's upstairs for a nap.
He slept til 10am & went back down for a nap at 2.
They say sleep is the best thing, right?
Poor kid.

I know he doesn't feel good when he turns down Cheese Puffs.
Which we can all thank Pop Pop Bob for introducing those non messy snacks to my son.
Thanks!

Not much going on here.
What's going on in your neck of the woods?
Who are you rooting for in the games today?]
Of course, we are Steelers.
I would love to see an Eagles vs. Steelers Super Bowl.
How exciting eh?

Well I have rambled on enough.

And to what to my wondering eyes should appear?

A layout, the first for the year!!!
This was taken Christmas 2007.
I did not reach my goal of getting them scrapped before Christmas 2008 but I am close to it.
I did another layout from 2007 Christmas
BUT
I can't share yet.
It's for a telephone scraplift challenge that Tara is hosting on Divalicious.
When she gives the ok, I will post it.

So the snow yesterday....
Was that a bust or what?
Big whip de do.
It's all gone already.
I wouldn't mind a nice, good snowfall.
Of course, I say that now, until I have to clean off my van & then deal with wet shoes coming into my house.
Cheeks has yet to experience really good snow to play in.
I am anxious to see what he would think of it.

Tell me, do you have snow where you are?????

Little of this, Little of that

Good Saturday Morning, Citizens.

Have you made any new resolutions?
I made a few (like say getting someone to break his binky-crack habit & learn to use the big boy potty).

I also decided to live more green.
I have been getting this newsletter for about a year now & wanted to share it with you.

I signed up for it & it comes in my email.
That's it.
Nothing else.
It always has tips & great links that you can look at or just hit the delete button & call it a day.
Go sign up for it.
It will at least give you something to read, say, when you are at work & are supposed to be "busy" so you are reading your personal email.
Yea, that's it!

On another note, someone is refusing to use the potty.
I have talked to Bobster about it, over & over, but he just refuses to go.
Imagine changing those diapers.
"shudder"
Seriously, Cheeks just goes "No potty" & does his biz on the floor.
I have taken to bribing him. I tell him the reward, pause, let him realize how cool the reward would be, then I tell him he has to go on the big boy potty.
He then shakes his head & says:
"No Potty"
He loves to flush the potty
BUT
only when he wants to, like right before brushing his teeth when the toilet doesn't need to be flushed.
He's only 2 & 4 months, so is it too early?

He does have his own potty.
It's called the Royal Flush.
It plays royal music if you pee/poop in it.
That's a no go as well.
He will sit on it & read or use it as a stand still
BUT
to use it as it is intended is a no go.

He knows when he has to go potty b/c he will usually go off by himself & then came back smellin oh so pretty.
So he knows.
But he's happy as Bobster says "Having a trail of flies following him"
I am ready for him to move onto big boy pants.
Sure.
Being in diapers is the last trace of having my "baby" (well he still has the binky, but we are really working on that)
BUT
I am willing to abandon Pampers & Huggies & move onto Spiderman & Blues Clues undies.

One day right?
So readers, if you have had a boy how old where they when you potty trained them?
How did you do it?
Let me know.

Ouch!

In short:

I tried to take Cheeks out of the dining room chair last night to put him in the corner (Don't ask).
I was pulling him up.
Almost had him out when....
BAM!
His feet caught on the dining room chair & knocked it over.
On my left foot's big toe.

I calmly stood him up.
Bent over.
Screamed.
Yelled a bad word that I am sure will make it into his vocab.

He said "You ok Mommy?"
I told him "NO"
He said "I kiss it"
So I let him kiss my toe.

It throbbed all night
&
became blue instantly.
It's like aqua blue.
Lovely shade.
Down by the nail bed.

On top of that I had nightmares all night.
Bobster thought it was Cheeks that was yelling for me
When it was me yelling "Mommy" in my sleep.
He came upstairs to find out who it was.
I admited it was me.
He got me some advil for the throbbing toe
&
Comforted me.

Now I am off to work w/ a throbbing, bruised to infinity toe, no sleep & a hive on the corner of my left eye.

Good times!

Mid Week Rambles & a Kick A** Recipe!

Is that not the best photo?
Can you believe one is a size 14 wide & the other one is bringing his tootsie's in at an 8.5?
Yep.
I live with the Flintstones!
I wear a 10 so Cheeks is definitely going to have to big feet.
AND
you know what the say about big feet...................
Big Feet, Big Boots.
Get your mind out of the gutter people!

Speaking of Cheeks, it seems he has added some key phrases to his vocabulary.
Now keep in mind, we do not have pristene mouths in my family.
I know, can you stand it???!!!
Anyway, he learned the following phrases from me, the Grandpop & Bobster.
In that order.
His 1st phrase of choice:
Holy Sh*t
This was learned when he had diarrhea about 2 weeks ago & I went to change his diaper.
For the love of God it was bad & that phrase just flew out of my mouth.
He instantly repeated it.

His 2nd phrase:
Kick Ass
Yep.
The Grandpop said in front of him "Well thankfully he doesn't know how to say Kick Ass"
Hmm......
He does now.
Verbatim.
Came flying right out of his mouth.

And finally, while watching the Eagles game last Sunday, a call was made that Bobster didn't like.
Well being a man, he jumped up & yelled:
Bullsh*t.

Immediately, Cheeks pointed at the tv & yelled:
Bullsh*t.

Ah, makes a mother proud to hear her child's vocab growing by leaps & bounds.
Good times!

Now he also likes to yell "Hello!' when he hears a bell.
Like the other day.
In the deli line at the food store.
They were ringing the bell & yelling for #62.
Well I guess #62 wasn't coming fast enough for Cheeks so he yelled
"Hello!!!!!, Hello!!!!!!"
I was mortified.

So now you see how my son picks up verbage.
I am so proud.

Now onto a simple, quick, fantabulous recipe.
It's done in like 10 mins.

Pork Chops w/ Kick
You will need:
Boneless pork chops (4)
BBQ Sauce
Chili Powder (2 tbs)
Garlic Salt
Pepper

Turn on the broiler.
Line a cookie sheet w/ foil, spray w/ Pam or whatever you would like to use.
Season pork chops w/ garlic salt & pepper.
Both sides.
Rub with chili powder.
Both sides.
Place on cookies sheet.
Broil each side approx 4-6 mins (til juices run clear)
Remove.
Coat each side generously with BBQ sauce.
Return to broiler, 1 min. each side.
Viola.
This is kick ass readers.
So yummy!
Try it tonight.

Got a quick easy recipe to share with me?
I am always on the lookout.
