The Grandpop has asked me to post this on this here bloggeroo. It's more for local people (well local to me, which means South Jersey) BUT if you would like to participate (and I hope you do) & you live outside of South Jersey, please contact me & we can arrange a way for you to ship or donate something.
If you are local & want to participate, please let me know. I will be collecting items & doing the drop off myself.
I hope you all will be able to participate as it really is a great thing that they are doing. See below:
Dear Friends,
We are exited to inform you that we will be visiting our sick and injured troops at Walter Reed Army Medical Center on March 5th 2009.
Our visit last year was a huge success thanks to all of you who made it possible for us to deliver care packages filled with love. So again we will be going to Walter Reed to thank those who are recovering from whatever they have endured.
This year we are given permission to bring a few extra people with us. We are bringing a few friends from The Warriors Watch Riders, The Nam Knights, The Last Patrol, and The American Legion Riders and some of our local veterans.
We have already received some wonderful participation with some local companies. Medford Ford has donated a large van and a full tank of gas for our trip.
Evesham Fire-Rescue is gracious enough to allow us to use their fire station as a drop-off place for donated items for the care packages for the patients. The details about the dates and times are listed below.
Also listed below is a special list of items that we will be accepting for the troops in the hospital. This list is different then last year's list as hospital patients have different needs.
Please feel free to include a letter or card, but do not include your address as per Patient Relations rules.
We will also be providing Retired Sgt. Maj. Dan Bullis at Walter Reed with a list of company names who donate. Please advise if you would like to be included on the list. Feel free to contact us at the email address below should you have any questions.
Thank you for your patriotism!
Sincerely,
Yellow Ribbon Club PO BOX 1385 Marlton, NJ 08053 www.yellowribbonclub.org email: yellowribbonclub@verizon.net

So here we are. The end of the start of the work week. Woo! Sad, really. I hate working. When is my Princess title going to come in handy? I think just now. I think my title is coming in handy right now...Bobster just asked me if I wanted a Sundae. He's going to make it for me. So............I am either really a Princess & my Prince is waiting on me hand & foot (he did the dinner dishes too) OR I am dying. Probably the latter BUT I will go with the good thoughts on this one! So what are your plans for this summer? Give me some thoughts on how you are going to do fun stuff but combat the ridiculously high gas prices. I got gas yesterday at Hess for $3.57/gallon. This was cheaper than WaWa which was $3.61, altho. I am seeing some gas as high as $3.71/gallon. This is the cheap stuff too...the unleaded people. I remember when I 1st started driving gas was like $.99cents/gallon. CHEAP! Then again I remember being in the back of my parent's car, standing up holding onto the headrest b/c it wasn't mandatory that you wear a seatbelt, & getting gas on even/odd days depending on your license plate. When is the madness going to end? I can't imagine paying $4.00/gallon but I guess you do what you have to do. Woo! That was a rant. No wonder they nicknamed Edith Bunker as a kid. So back on topic....tell me some fun things to do with the fam on the weekends that won't cost an arm & a leg in gas or other expenses. Well my sundae is made. Mint chocolate chip ice cream. Magic Shell Cool Whip. Ah, I feel my thighs expanding as I type & eat. Woops out!
Finally started scrapping for the new year. Sorry for the horrible scan...my scanner wouldn't cooperate. Maybe it's time for a new one...I got it as a gift in 2002 & it has been thru. the ringer. Anyway I did this layout for a challenge at www.scrapthemusic.blogspot.com (you can see the link over there ~~~~~~>) & for a challenge at www.scrappinmojo.com (link over there ~~~~~~>). I don't think I was blessed til Cheeks came into my life. He had me laughing so hard today. Some of the whacky stuff he does. He laid on me & sat with me on the couch for a long time today. I just got to cuddle with my baby. Usually his 17 mos old energy keeps him going! He has learned how to sit down & get up from a sitting position. He was practicing this morning. So tonight he decided to show off his "mad skillz". So he backs up against the bottom step. Stoops. Sits. Aunt Erin & I clap. What does the bugger do? He decides to lounge. Just leaned back & put his arms out on the step above. It was the funniest thing!!!! Maybe you had to be there...tee hee. Anyway it's almost 11 & I need to get cleaned up & to bed. Cheeks gets up early! Woop's out!
